2011年是中美关系史上重要的一年。中国国家主席胡锦涛访问华盛顿和芝加哥，开创中美两国伙伴合作新局面。芝加哥市长戴利访问多个中国城市，加强芝加哥与中国的联系。
今年也是中美重启交往大门40周年。40年前，美国乒乓球队访问中国，以民间交流的形式重新开启中美两国交往之门。接下来美国国务卿基辛格访问中国，为启动中美关系正常化进程做出了历史性的贡献。

2011 is an important year in the history of US and China friendship. Chinese President Hu Jintao visited Washington and Chicago at the beginning of 2011 to open a new chapter in the cooperative partnership between US and China, followed by Chicago Mayor Daley’s visit to China to build strong connections between Chicago and China.
This year is also the 40th Anniversary of the Reopening of Relations between US and China. 40 years ago in 1971, US table tennis team visited China, followed by Kissinger’s visit that paved the way for the normalization of US and China relationship. The remarkable People’s Diplomacy carried out by the Ping Pong team of US broke the ice and reconnected US and China.
